"Solo trip for me for Easter Sunday and came to climb Buckden Pike - the last time I did this I was 16 years old and staying at Buckden House for a 6th form residential so 30 years have passed - eek!
I was one of the first in the carpark and unfortunately the pay machine wasn’t working - note left in car and off I went.
I barely saw anyone the whole way to the summit and once we left the main path it became a bit of a mud fest.
I was overtaken by a local on a bike though and we had a nice chat (me taking a breather)
Rather breezy on the summit so I forgoed my brew and chocolate bunny and headed to the Polish War Memorial then doubled back to pick up the Buckden Beck Path back to the car park.
I lived to regret this decision as the path was rather boggy and I didn’t love the scrambles :) although the waterfalls were lovely.
Made it back to the vehicle in one piece after a stop to enjoy my choc bunny and home time. " — charliegill • Mar 31, 2024
"After hiking from Yew Tree Tarn up to Ivy Crag made way up here on a solo walk to blow the cobwebs away. Managed to be lucky and get a break in the weather and stay dry and the cloud base was just high enough that could see Coniston Water. " — charliegill • Mar 25, 2024
"After 4 mile geotrail around culm head airfield, stopped here on the way home. Flatish walk from the car park.
University and working full time has kept me away from the hills and countryside for too long! Almost done now....." — staggeronward • Feb 24, 2024
"This was first the hill with my daughter.. it was beautiful sunny day with a small wind at the top.. i parked the card at Bruce Munro car park (very nice guy’s, they didn’t have any problems with it). Start at the coker’s lane and follow the public footpaths.. Enjoy the view " — Krzysztof • Feb 12, 2024
"Had planned to do a big one, up onto Beacon Batch and then over to Cheddar Gorge, doing a big loop. Unfortunately, lack of parking for the start point meant I ascended up a really steep, muddy waterfall. Was an adventure but once on the tops was rather windy and bleak. Plus point - nobody else was up for the challenge on that route so didn't see anybody until I reached the summit." — adventure-stricken • Feb 4, 2024
