"This was a great trail. My dog really enjoyed it too. Not much scrambling to be had and the little bit that is present is easy. There are options to intensify these scrambles if one wishes.
Start by heading up the trail to west wind pass. Once you get to West wind pass you turn right and head around the south side of the mountain. You will top out on a ridge at that point and then turn left to head up towards the summit. Really is just a straight plod up scree from that point lol. Amazing views at the top though. "Third summit in three days! After Howard with Jeff on the Friday, Limestone with Jeff and Stephan on Saturday, now we're onto Sunday with Jeff and Ron. This one made Jeff uber happy - he didn't have to worry about exposure or crazy shit and just plodded up the scree and occasional cliff band to the top. Not to mention the views!!!!!!!!!!! Gorgeous!!! I've been to Westwind Pass before, and we followed a bit of the trail to Windtower years ago... but never summitted it. I also took a really good fall and got bruised up well that time and just hadn't been back since other than when I did Rimwall with Ron. So today we got 'er done and I got my third peak straight! We all had a good time. We saw so many people compared to Howard (none) and Limestone (none), so it was a very different experience. " — leigh-annewebster • May 27, 2018
"Another training day with 15kg backpack so a slow slog to the summit for me. Windy as all hell at the summit, not surprisingly. Wonderful views of spray lakes, only to get back into canmore and be greeted by thick smoke. After getting back to the car I went for a second trip back up the trail towards west wind pass to gain a few more hundred meters of elevation gain. Not tons of fun. Lot of family and people hiking up to the pass which is good to see. " — MarkJPerkins • Sep 2, 2017
"From the pass, we made our wade up through snow, deep in some spots, gained the lower ridge, took it up a ways, and then gained the upper ridge. Gorgeous day with lots of sunshine and little to no wind." — BertB • Apr 19, 2015
"Summitted in the winter with So and Shaun. Went off route a bit towards rimwall and then corrected ourselves by downclimbing some pretty difficult terrain. Went off route by climbing cliff bands too early and then got to the summit. " — dkmountainman • Dec 4, 2010
